With the aim of increasing the vegetable market supply in the disaster-stricken areas, MOFCOM has launced a campaign of transporting vegetables from south to north, connecting the large-scale farm produce wholesale market in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu and other provinces and municipalities with the local distributors in Hainan. At the same time, the said measure has also contributed to solving the difficulties in transporting and selling the fruits and vegetables produced in Hainan. The accumulated volume of vegetables and fruits transported inland from Hainan amounted to 147,486.46 tons from Feb. 2-11.
