From December 1988 to December 2007, Hainan Province had received 1,428,802,800 domestic and foreign tourists, with the total tourism revenue of 121.321 billion yuan, among which, 6,894,600 tourists were from overseas, and the tourism foreign exchange earnings were USD1, 792,031,400.

In 2007, the whole province received a total of 18,454,100 tourists, 15.6 times of the early periods when the province was first built in 1988 (1,185,400 people). Among it, 753,100 people were from overseas, 3.7 times of the early periods when the province was first built in 1988 (204,600 people). The tourism revenue of the whole province was 17,137 million Yuan, 59.7 times of the early periods when the province was first built in 1988 (287 million Yuan). Of which, the tourism foreign exchange earnings were USD301，600，400，19.5 times of the early days when the province was first built in 1988 (USD15,470,000). In recent years, the increase of domestic and foreign tourists’ reception ranks top among the other provinces and cities in the country.
