On April 2, Novartis (China) BioMedical Research Ltd. held a ceremony for laying the foundation in Zhangjiang High-tech Zone of Pudong, Shanghai, and signed a cooperation agreement on Novartis-Fudan Joint Laboratory with Biomedicine Institute of Fudan University.

As a critical step of establishing global R&D network, Novartis officially announced to set up the most advanced comprehensive R&D center of China and Asia in Shanghai Zhangjiang High-tech Zone in Nov.2006, and through integration of R&D to jointly develop new technology, carry out new medicine research on effect mechanism basis, and accelerate new medicine development targeting at unique disease of Asian people.
