MOFCOM and SAIC Urge Strengthening on the IPR Protection during the Olympics

With the aim of creating a laudable IPR protecting environment, serving the high-level and special Olympic Games, and practicing the concept of “Green Olympics, Hi-tech Olympics, People's Olympics”, MOFCOM and the State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC) released a notice recently requiring such six Olympic host and assistant cities as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Qingdao, Shenyang and Qinghuangdao to expand their work on protecting IPR with great effort during the Olympic Games.

The Notice urges the related departments concerned to inspect widely the large whole-sale market and retail market, Olympic designated hotels and their surrounding areas, Olympic venues and their surrounding areas, tourism region, etc., strictly crack down the sales of fake and IPR-infringing goods sold by vendors. The IPR protection of the famous brand, name brand, foreign band and Olympic brand should be strengthened.
